Can i use fluxbox with gnome? I use gnome and use just a regular compiz with out some minimal effects it seems to be faster than metacity. But I like the minimal stuff. So can i use gnome with fluxbox? Also will I end up throwing gnome out the window for FB?

i'd go the openbox route, because there's a special xsession just for your purpose.

they are both equally configurable. Fluxbox has a text based configuration. Openbox has an xml based configuration -- which is more or less just text - only in a particular format, with start and end tags. As for speed, you will have to use them to find out. They both use just about the same amount of memory. It all comes down to what you feel comfortable with. I have never liked the default Fluxbox themes, but there are loads of themes available which make it look real nice. Openbox too has a bunch of themes, although I tend to stick with the Onyx and Onyx-Citrus from the default ones.
