My Arch logo wallpaper

Hey everyone,

I read an interesting post somewhere around here with this:

linux-logo-colors.jpg

Basically showing how most distros are centered in red and blue...well I decided to make something that uses everything every other distro doesn't have:

Background.jpg
Sorry the preview version looks so crappy.

Full 1280x800 2 mb image: http://f.imagehost.org/dl/21abfe028ed63 … ground.bmp
PNG: http://f.imagehost.org/0800/Background.png

The "official" color scheme is purple, grey, yellow (orange), and teal.  But I suspect green and red would also play in very nicely (for conky or something).

What'ya think?

Re: My Arch logo wallpaper

Yeah I know the purple is a little bit contrasty against the yellow.  Next one will hopefully be more yellow/orange based.  I bet purple is never used in a distro because its so damn hard to complement!

Re: My Arch logo wallpaper

And for the people who like to have a billion things on their desktop and don't need the wallpaper getting in the way:

(I'll probably use my first one until I actually figure out how to get a billion things on the desktop...then use this one).

Haha, I like it. I suggest you host it somewhere else and not as a .bmp though.

Re: My Arch logo wallpaper

Both look awesome, but as a few people suggested, don't use a .bmp please.

Background3.jpg

My most recent wallpaper using the "new" Arch color scheme.  A little more subtle with the color play and a pretty decent bit of scenery IMO smile

The background is Martin - Sunset on a River part of the Milkdrop visualization to Winamp...quality is maxed out.  The music being played during creation was some thumping trance big_smile

Re: My Arch logo wallpaper

It took me a minute to realise that the image was graphing the colours in the Distro's logo... But then I worked it out and it's all cool smile

Re: My Arch logo wallpaper

I also installed the matrix screensaver running on my dual monitors.  Green and a yellow variation flow in with the logo/wallpaper colors very nicely.  I'm surprised by how well yellow/orange and teal play with practically every other color.  Now I'm trying to straddle the line between being too colorful and looking tacky (go away 1970s!).  I think a green and yellow conky setup will look mighty fine in the dark left bottom corner smile  But I just couldn't stand anymore "techno" blues or black/white or orange/black setups.

Version 4 Now: Background4.jpg

The archlinux bit now looks slightly 3d and is backed with a touch of purple.  I also added a subtle black border around the entire logo to put more emphasis on it from the background...but its really hard to actually see.
