Ok, got gnome-2.26 to install and succeeded in turning off gnome-keyring for mail-notification.

I don't know, but that may be fault of the fam daemon? [1]

Re: Gnome 2.26 Discussion

fam is not needed at all for GNOME. Both gnome-vfs and gio use inotify. gio doesn't even support fam anymore because I don't want to pull in a fam dependency into glib2.

This means we don't need gamin either?

yes that is correct. Gamin is a fam replacement without network fs support.

Re: Gnome 2.26 Discussion

Just one bug, if I will move my panel from top to bottom my applications cannot resize more than panel was before. Screenshot, because I cannot write it properly:

Firefox was maximized, then I moved my panel to bottom and resized. I maximized firefox again and nothing's changed. The same thing happening while opening other apps. After logout, and then login again everything is ok.

Sure you can, that's exactly what I did, no problem at all.
And gnome-session isn't at ver. 2.26 either. Maybe JGC has some issue with them?

Thanks for the info, but I saw gnome-vfs 2.24.1-2 still depends on fam, could you remove it?
And I think the wiki part on fam needs a modification as well.

I think it is because of old GDM =p

I do not quite follow what you are trying to say, but resizing windows doesn't work as with 2.24. I have handles on my panel and if I click on the right or left handle and resize a window, it doesn't fill the screen, it acts as if the panel was there although it is moved away.

Same problem here!

P.S.: Actualy, it isn't a bug in gnome-panel, because when I change from metacity to compiz, it works.

I think it is because of old GDM =p

no, i built gnome-power-manager and gnome-session myself and still use the old gdm.
g-p-m has switched to devicekit-power, which is still only in AUR, so that might be a reason why it's not yet updated. no idea why gnome-session isn't updated either though.

Re: Gnome 2.26 Discussion

New bug: my multimedia (email and etc) keys doesn't works until I open the gnome-keybinding-properties, then it magically starts working.

I've heard that gnome-session 2.26 is causing some bugs (100% CPU usage), and the fix is to keep the 2.24.

Re: Gnome 2.26 Discussion

finally i upgraded to 2.26 and i can say that it really rocks. it seems faster, nautilus opens folders faster than ever,  gedit and gnome-terminal startup time is enhanced. though i have question about the new one volume-applet. when i scroll mousewheel up then volume reduces and when i scroll mousewheel down it becomes bigger, i dont like this inverted style, can i change it back? and how can i change volume applet compiz animation because i want fade, but i have glide animations just like in normal windows.

no i don't say it won't be upgraded. i only said that it needs other packages that aren't in extra yet so maybe that's what's delaying the upgrade. the hal compability part was removed, so g-p-m really requires devkit-power.
