Re: wow, i feel old..

I'm feeling old thinking about IRC recently, and how it used to be... 13 or 14 years ago when I used it regularly hmm

Kids these days with their twittering and SMS'ing haven't even heard of IRC sad

lol, I'm 18 and I use IRC more than cell phones (I only use the phone when I need to contact someone and am out of the house, otherwise it's email or IM or IRC tongue).  Hopefully people will see the light and start using IRC more tongue

Re: wow, i feel old..

I must respectfully defer to a user who's been here a year + longer than I, and ESPECIALLY one who emulates phraktures's avatars! LOL.

Regardless, in physical years, I'm on the north side of 50...and beginning to feel that way!

Re: wow, i feel old..

If you subtract 3nd3r's ID from grndrush's, that gives a rough estimate of the number of people who registered in 2003: 535.  It would be cool to see statistics on the number of registered users and posts over the years.  They would be a decent indicator of the growth of Arch (probably the only measurable one, too).  Can PunBB generate stats like those?

I don't know if punBB can do that but I remembered seeing this type of graph a while back, maybe not the newest generated but I think it shows some trends anyway.

I guess I'm somewhat on the older side as well now. Very nice to see how Arch has grown over the years. smile

Here's to many more.

The good news for me is that there's folks around here that have been around longer than me. ;-) I dare any of you who isn't an official overlord to touch me in postcount though.

What?

I'm 23 and last time IRC was popular in my country among teenagers was in mid-ninteies when I was still in elementary school big_smile
Now everyone has facebook account and text each other with sms.

But I recently became a idea-mod on forums.kde.org and now IRC is a must.
Is just that I suck at it. big_smile

OK, my comment might have been a bit flippant, but I challenge you to find someone under 20, who isn't a 'technological' person and who uses IRC.

It used to be IRC and ICQ for anyone who wanted to chat on the intarwebs. Now it's mostly tech-heads and people looking for sex on IRC (often with a cross-over between those 2 groups -- anyone want to do a Venn Diagram? tongue)

Re: wow, i feel old..

AGE=14
echo "Don't like irc (though that dosn't mean I don't know about it (and it's history)), sms, or phone. Faceboak, email and msn (MSN>Faceboak>Email) yes. However, Forums are always the best. I've been around various chat rooms for 4 years or so, but never really found my home. But over all those years, I've always been attached to one forum or another. Reading this thread makes me wish I was around at the begining of arch/linux (I probabaly would have got bored of it XD)"
