I don't know if punBB can do that but I remembered seeing this type of graph a while back, maybe not the newest generated but I think it shows some trends anyway.

Found it in this thread.
I just updated the graph with about 5 more months of statistics, if anyone is interested. We're still growing.

It makes me feel old knowing that there are people in college now who were born in the 90s.

But srsly, I am 16 and I don't use cell phones, or SMS. I love IRC though.

Hey, as long as I'm not a nerd, I'm alright with being a geek.

OK, my comment might have been a bit flippant, but I challenge you to find someone under 20, who isn't a 'technological' person and who uses IRC.
It used to be IRC and ICQ for anyone who wanted to chat on the intarwebs. Now it's mostly tech-heads and people looking for sex on IRC (often with a cross-over between those 2 groups -- anyone want to do a Venn Diagram?
)
I guess there are folks like that. I myself enjoy reading manga (Japanese word for comic) and I'm 24 (does it sound lame?
), I realize that there are still a lot of kids around 15 years old who have some good IRC experience because some scan groups prefer to release the new manga chapters on IRC only, meaning you need to join the channel and message the bot a XDCC request to get the chapters, even though those folks don't have to be 'technological' ![]()

I'm a nerd, and I prefer that over geek.
Me and my mate were talking the other day about this and concluded that geeks are the ones who build gaming PC's and play games. Nerds play with Linux and firewalls and stuff. That's our HO anyway ![]()

Then you must be Uber-Geek-Nerd or something
We don't know anyone like that so we didn't discuss it ![]()

I'm 15 as well, I don't use IRC, just because I'm not used to it, and don't know what to chat about and where. Also, the main function of my mobile phone is just a clock and to call and recieve calls. But I just don't use SMS for anything.

I find it a bit interesting that the graph with number of users have similarities with Google Trends (for arch linux/archlinux) or maybe I am just over analyzing it. ![]()

Ok... I just feel out of the loop...
I used to use IRC once in a while back in the mid to late 90's for an RPG group, along with a couple of other chat servers. (I actually liked the old MSN chat server, back when it was free to use.) Now, if I even log into an IM or chat, it's sort of like stepping back into high school.
I have a cell phone, but no one ever calls me on it, and I do not SMS, ever. Tweeting is annoying, and while I have a facebook, I only log in once in a blue moon.
For the record, 28 in a couple months. gaah... 30 is creeping up on me.
I keep getting distracted from my webserver project...
huh? oooh... shiny!

I was late to the Arch train haha. I never used IRC..and I'm a bit of a texting whore....but i still prefer a phone conversation or at least IM...if not just showing up in person to say what needs to be said.
ah well.

Now THAT needs a Venn Diagram. Gaming (at least friends who I met while gaming) was what got me into using Linux in the first place, so I can see there being some considerable overlap, at least with the set of Linux.
EDIT: I'd also like to say that I'm 19 and I've been using IRC for years. Anyone who is into the Anime/Manga fansubbing community has probably been exposed to it. Actually, I think it might be safe to say that most people who use forums a lot have probably used IRC as well.

That's easy, just find some anime fansub community.
edit: Whoops, should have read page 2 before replying.
