Samba Daemons won't start

I've noticed a weird problem with the Samba daemons, nmbd and smbd.  They won't start from rc.conf during boot up, but will from the command line.  Does anyone know why that is?

From my rc.conf:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng dbus hal fam network !lisa !netfs ntpd !@openntpd nmbd smbd !winbindd crond !avahi-daemon alsa !networkmanager stbd kdm3)

Many thanks.

Re: Samba Daemons won't start

replace smbd with samba etc.. you can see what they are called by ls /etc/rc.d
