pacman -S freenx
pacman -S nxclient
sshd is up and running
tried connection from my windows client - no service
did the dsa key import thing, went further until authentication failed
tried the default key thing: /opt/NX/bin/nxsetup --install --setup-nomachine-key --clean --purge
message says all users will be able to log in using normal passwords
tried windows connection - no service
OK, use default key
tried windows connection - authentication failed
tried ssh from windows to arch machine using putty - no problem
so using ssh, I can connect but using nx, authentication failure.
I have no clue what else to do. Please help.
ps: yes, I have restarted sshd many times. Also, reading forum posts, there seems to be some problem with the latest freenx but no definitive word whether it is working or not.

Well, it turned out to be the @#$%^ hosts.deny that was the cause (perhaps the wiki should say something about this). Wished the error could have been better phrased (instead of authentication failed). Anyway, since I had shorewall running, I decided to not use hosts.deny / hosts.allow and everything was OK - well, not exactly, but I decided to start all over since I don't know what I had changed in attempting to get it all running so I pacman -Rsn freenx and nxclient, deleted /opt/NX, reinstalled, set up default key method and voila, I got through. So, the latest freenx 0.7.3-3 is fine.

You should consider updating the wiki.

Well, hopefully the wiki author reads this and updates it. He discourages *independent* updates there. Anyway, others who have problems would probably search the forum. I did.
