The root's applications seems terrible

Hi,there
I am using arch+kde4.2 and I enable the gtk-qt-engine. When I am using my application, it looks great (except for the designer for qt, that seems terriable, I don't know why ). But when I am using emacs with the root, the apperance looks like windows 98...
Why this happen?  I del the .kde4 file for /root and make a symbolink to my home .kde4 and that doesn't help, hope for your help, THX!

Whatever theme you install, if you install it in your home drive, root cannot see it. If you want root to have the same theme, install the theme system wide.

This is probably because you don't have a GTK theme set for root. Run lxappearance or whichever application you use to set the GTK theme as root, and set it there.

Actually, I use the default kde systemsettings to set the theme, but when I run it as root, nothing happens~ so I don't know how to do it. Using someother application?

Re: The root's applications seems terrible

An easy way would be to grab gtk-chtheme or gtk-theme-switch2 and run either of them. You can pick your gtk theme there.

(gtk-theme-switch2's executable is called switch2 if you choose that one)

Why do you need to run emacs as root anyway?
