Re: Desk Shots

Here's a picture of my desk at my dorm room:

And my workbench:

And the view outside my window:

Normally, when I'm home, I take the monitor on the righthand side of my desk and use it in combination with my 1440x900 monitor and my desktop box, which is getting replaced this summer.

The tidyness of the average desk is too much.

I need a sorted list of all random numbers, so that I can retrieve a suitable one later with a binary search instead of having to iterate through the generation process every time.

Re: Desk Shots

Literally just taken. Stuff to note:
The computer is not done, I'm in the process of working out the front panel into a turbine fan.
The desk is getting sold. After many good years of use, I'm getting a table from ikea, 5'x2.5'. I really need the space.
My little dot mk III amp hasn't arrived. sad

This is my new desk and chair that I purchased today from the Ikea store in Orlando, Florida. I know I have a bit of a cable rat's nest going on, but so long as they don't get caught on my legs, it's all good.

Why don't people put their towers on the ground, under their desks? Is there something bad about that?

There's nothing bad about it, it's so people don't kick into them... you would also have better access to stick your flash drive in the usb ports imo. I keep mine on the ground due to the fact that there isn't any other good place to put them.

I would keep mine on the ground, but there is no room ATM. I have 10 usb ports up top without (4 per monitor, 2 on keyboard) so I don't need those. When I move, it will probably be on the ground if it looks gooe there.

Re: Desk Shots

And dust too.. Feet kick up dust which gets sucked in by fans... I avoid it wherever possible.

Re: Desk Shots

Once you start putting crap under a desk, it limits where you can move with the chair. Plus, I never put electronics on the floor.

Re: Desk Shots

There's a huge amount of dust on the ground. As long as there's enough space on the table, I'll put my tower there. It's still full of dust, but at least it's not drowning...

Re: Desk Shots

For dust, they're called fan filters. You only need them on intake fans, so you really only need one. Even a coffee filter will do.

Re: Desk Shots

th_desk.jpg

== EDIT == : Fixed Image, Sorry!

I had a version with annotations telling what was what. I don't know. I cheated, I was playin PS3 at the time to hide Ubuntu... smile A single hit of a button would change to VGA, hence, Ubuntu. Installin Arch tomorrow, and I have banding to put on the edges. A gromet hole wll be in the final desk too, along with drawers. The drawers are a nice addition, when I get them on (should be on by Thanksgiving no later, hopefully before school, 7th grade for me, starts in late August)

Enjoy the look of it. That computer to the extreme left is my Mom's Windows XP SP3 computer that is a complete epic fail. Too many issues. I have threatened to wipe it and put Ubuntu on it....... its made for beginners. BUT... she uses yahoo and skype too much. Oh well. Not in this pic is my Dad's messed up PC, he is *trying* to run Linux. He is a veteran at it but has hardware problems in Ubuntu LOL. He also has a *ugh* Vista laptop.

The PS3 is a 60GB. If any PS3 users have any games in common with me and they use Linux, email (since there is no PM on here it appears...) me with your screen name and what games you have... we should be able to battle (or, in some games' cases, CO-OP (-: )
