IPSec/l2tp VPN server for OS X client

Has anyone managed to setup an IPsec/l2tp vpn server that works with the native vpn support in osx? I have been searching around on the internet and tried various configurations but so far nothing is working.

Perhaps someone has a working setup they would like to share. The ideal final scenario is the OS X client would appear as another machine on the LAN.

My Network looks like this at the moment

Internet -> Cable Modem -> WRT54G AP/Router -> LAN Clients (including the arch box that I am trying to run the vpn server on)

Right now the laptop is on the same LAN so I haven't configured any port forwards on the router yet.
