php5 and fastcgi

I am curious if anyone is using fastcgi and php5. The bonus here is that php will run as the user, so if you are running with userdir access (domain.com/~user) then all php files will be run with user "user".

Combined with chroot-jails, php base_dir, and some other stuff, this could be a nice setup for allowing users decent utility, but still maintaining some security.
But, in seems to hinge on fastcgi...anyone using php5 with it?
