cups 1.3.10-3 & Samsung ML-1630 over my server (issues)

Okay after trying for a few days to get CUPS up and running on my server with my printer, i've now come to my senses and realised I need some help.

After editing my cupsd.conf my server gave me control to modify/add printers and of course admin access. That was a few days ago, but when I tried to add my printer yesterday it first complained about my "device ID" being wrong, i've tried googling/mail lists/newsgroups etc and apparently if CUPS detects your printer it should be visible in the pull down list of devices, mine isnt. Instead I tried various configs which obviously didn't work. Tried running my printer locally on my laptop got a device ID: usb://Samsung/ML-1630%20Series, used the same on my server, at least now I don't have any errors concering my printer not being detected or the wrong ID.

But running "print test page" does nothing for me, my printer just sits there idling/working etc.

lpadmin -p printername -v deviceURI

The deviceURI contains the type of interface and the device path. For example, for a parallel port printer, the device URI might be parallel:/dev/lp0. For a USB printer, it is recommended you use a device URI of usb:/dev/usb_prnt#. See usblp(HW) for USB device naming conventions.

ls -l /dev/usblp0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 2009-05-23 16:49 /dev/usblp0 -> usb/lp0

Doesn't work for me either since I don't know what device ID to use regardless of reading various sites they just don't work for my setup.

Trying to save basic server settings generates errors in my logs, and after awhile it timesout.

Yeah i'm right now reading various fedora mailing lists when I realised this is clearly beyond me, since i've tried everything I know from various sources.

Have I been to #CUPS? Yes but everyone seems to be at sleep all 8 of them...

Thank You
