I don't know, it is 4 AM here right now, but to me 3.6-1 looks newer than 3.53-1

EDIT: Don't ask me why I posted screenshots instead of just text...

Re: wtf pacman ??!

53 > 6 so 3.53 > 3.6...    If upstream are using stupid number then the maintainer should use "force".  I see there is a 3.6-2 now so maybe that got fixed.

Re: wtf pacman ??!

iphitus@tsiolkovsky:~$ vercmp
usage: vercmp <ver1> <ver2>

return values:
  < 0 : if ver1 < ver2
    0 : if ver1 == ver2
  > 0 : if ver1 > ver2

iphitus@tsiolkovsky:~$ vercmp 3.6 3.53
-1

6<53. Upstream probably meant .60.

BaSh has just uploaded a new package with the force option set, so that it will update properly:
http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/c … ev=CURRENT

edit: Allan wins.

Re: wtf pacman ??!

And what about rtorrent and libtorrent? I was really a bit confused about this downgrade in the repos. Should I stick with the version installed on my machine or would it be better do downgrade to that in the repos?

Re: wtf pacman ??!

Read the comments on rtorrent's AUR page - it was upgraded to 0.8.4, the current unstable release, and then downgraded again to 0.8.2.
(I'm still using 0.8.4, btw - works fine smile )
