After reading http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions … 88/details , I wanted to install Joomla as my replacement for Quanta Plus. When I installed Joomla from AUR, I got:
To finish the installation process, navigate to 'http://localhost/joomla'
I did that and my browser said it refused to connect to local host. I also didn't have apache running at the time. Anyone know how to get it working?
I typed in localhost:631 just to check and it was able to go to the CUPS interface.

well you need a lot more to get joomla running: apache, mysql, some extra modules probably...
however, joomla is not a code editor, it's a web content management system written in php (and imo so horribly bloated that no one should ever contemplate to use it, but that's beside the topic).

Ah. Well there's an extension for it that gives it a code editor of sorts, which is what caught my interest. I've still been trying to look for a replacement for Quanta Plus that'll make managing my pidgin logs quick and easy, and possibly making my own site from scratch/

Joomla is nothing like quanta plus, it's a content management system, as stated above.
To "run it" you'll need to set up a LAMP.
The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner.

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind, maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find...

A Lamp?
So basically I set up the daemons needed to run joomla, set up a LAMP, and then what in order to get Joomla running? Some of the add-ons of Joomla appeal to me very much.

How to build a web site using Joomla!
It referes to a Windows LAMP server and Joomla 1.0.x not 1.5.x but you'll get an idea.
