Currently, the favourites are:
1. Teeworlds
2. The Battle for Wesnoth
3. Hedgewars

I also used to play Cube a lot, and I'm still keeping an eye on Globulation 2.

I've just discovered TORCS, The Open Sorce Racing Car Simulator.
It's a blast with the xbox controller I've spliced a usb connector onto.
F-1, Rally, Street, NASCAR... 
And the graphics range from ugly to perfectly acceptable.

If anyone can fix the interstate outlaws release it might be good shooter/race game. I keep getting a python error trying to run it. but for rpg type game there is eternal lands mmo or single player freedroidrpg which is fun sometimes, there is a new mod out too for that on sourceforge.
