I need to be able to access wireless internet in order to use the internet, yet for some reason when I try to start iwconfig I get
-bash: iwconfig: command not found
When I do whereis iwconfig it returns no results.
I have ifconfig and it works fine but I need the wireless aspect to get to the internet.
What do I do?

try pacman -S wireless-tools and followinf try iwconfig again.

try pacman -S wireless-tools and followinf try iwconfig again.

try pacman -S wireless-tools and followinf try iwconfig again.
This doesn't work, seeing as I can't access the network in the first place.

lol
Use an ethernet cable and get on through your router that way.
if this isnt an option for some reason, download the package manually on another computer and transfer it with a thumbdrive, etc and then you can install the local file with pacman.
edit: oh also wirless tools is on the install cd. if youve got a fresh install you can grab the package from there. Assuming you dont have too many updates since you installed as you dont have network connectivity...

I simply reinstalled with the wireless-tools selected and it works fine now. Thanks!

Thanks, it's helped me also. But now it's called "wireless_tools" with underscore.

Hi acc1202,
Welcome to Arch Linux. Be careful of old threads. This one is more than three years old, I would not expect anyone to still be looking for an answer Also, iwconfig has been deprecated in favor of iw. It uses kernel APIs that have been depricated. Only a few cases *cough*NetworkManager*cough* justify its still being around.
Anyway, I am going to go ahead and close this thread.
