Hello,
I installed archlinux, and im having a hard time figuring out my wireless so that i may install additional packages. Usually, this wouldnt be a problem, but i recently bought a new wireless adapter (linksys wireless-n).
I checked out your wiki, but i seem to be having problems because im not sure if im supposed to be using b43 drivers, or some other driver. It seems like b43 is installed by default. I tried following the arch wiki, however, modprobed the module, but the wireless device still will not show up. Im normally a slackware user, and since they have been having problems with the ati catalyst driver (wireless is probably broken as well), i settled on ubuntu, which was what i was using previously.
In ubuntu 8.10, i had to load a proprietary driver "broadcom_sta" to get wireless to work.
I would really like to use arch as my distro of choice, due to its philosophy. Can you help me?

First of all, welcome to the ArchLinux forums. Is there a model number or any specifics on the adapter at all? The more specific the more chance we've got of helping you out.

got it.... sort of, with ndiswrapper.

metalforever: How is your setup running? I have ndiswrapper sort of working with this same card and it seems slow to connect and seems to get below average signal strength. I have a windows partition i hate to boot into and I checked and it seems to get better performance using the linksys drivers. Ever find another solution?

If the Broadcom_sta driver worked well in Ubuntu, why don't you use it in Arch? It is in AUR:

(If you're new to Arch, to build this package you have to download the tarball, extract it, cd into the folder and use the command "makepkg". Then install with "pacman -U <packagename>").
Then you can add to your /etc/rc.conf MODULES array the following two modules: lib80211_crypt_tkip wl. That should load them on boot and get you a working connection (hopefully).
