wvdial (or maybe the ppp), can connect, can ping, but can't browse

hello everyone...

I really need some help...

the wvdial is connected, and i can ping, but i can't browse any site in firefox or other browser, it says "firefox can't find server..."
i have no idea about this...

If you can ping IP adresses but cant browse the web then most likely you dont configured your DNS servers.
Check the content of your /etc/resolv.conf file. If its empety or conatins incorrect address, fix it (namserver x.x.x.x), save it and have fun
If I remember correctly, the wvdial output should contain the proper DNS server addresses. If its not but you know your internet providers DNS addresses then use them, or simply use the OpenDNS servers (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220)

i have checked it, and it contains the correct addresses...

example : i can ping google.com, but i cant browse it from my browser..

Then try with other browsers and/or try wget

i have tried epiphany n other GUI browser, but I get the same result..
but, with w3m i can browse the site...

This is strange, try creating a new user (for an empty home directory) login in with it and try again. Maybe you have some old config somewhere.

maybe some tuning to MTU setting, default set to 1500, but some modem driver work better with < 1500
what is the device you use to dial up? i found this problem with Windows Mobile 6 phone..

yeah, i think so, i think my configuration was wrong (but i don't know it specifically)

i'm using my cell phone (nokia 5320) as a modem. before last saturday, i can using it to surf the internet  (w/ firefox), but after that, i can't...
