I'm using the ath5k module on my Acer Aspire One, and connecting to an unsecured wireless network. The router is a DLink G604T, with AUS/NZ firmware. Initially I had problems with my DNS servers, which turned out to be a problem with the firmware on the router, and Archlinux. I fixed this problem, and subsequently I could resolve domain names.
Now, every so often, my connection drops, and the only way to fix it is to restart the net-profiles daemon. Pinging the router, I get an average of 8% packet loss, is this normal? There is a G5 iMac connected to the same network wirelessly, which has no problems whatsoever.
I had no network problems under Arch connecting to a WRT54G.
When the connection has dropped, I receive "ping: sendmsg: No buffer space available" when attempting to ping the router (10.1.1.1).
