Network won't start at boot, but will after login.

I just upgraded, and now whenever I boot my computer, it fails at starting the network. But after I login, as simple dhcpcd eth0 fixes my network.

Does anybody know what may be causing this? I don't know what files you might need to see, but tell me and I'll post them.

Thanks,
Jordy

I'm having the same problem.  I'm using the tg3 module for the NIC.

If it helps anybody understand what may be going on, I forgot to post that before it says [FAIL], it says 'dhcpcd: timed out'.

@jason: I think I may be, too. Is there a way to check?

Re: Network won't start at boot, but will after login.

lspci should have some decent information of what card you're using, here's mine:

$ lspci | grep -i ethernet
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5751 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 01)

Then search for the model name and it usually turns up quickly.

Re: Network won't start at boot, but will after login.

This is the output:

[jordy@milkyway ~]$ lspci | grep -i ethernet
02:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82562EZ 10/100 Ethernet Controller (rev 01)

How do I tell what module I'm using, though? Locate turned up:

[jordy@milkyway ~]$ locate tg3
/lib/firmware/tigon/tg3.bin
/lib/firmware/tigon/tg3_tso.bin
/lib/firmware/tigon/tg3_tso5.bin
/lib/modules/2.6.30-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/tg3.ko

But I don't know if that means that I'm using it.

I think that card uses the e100 module: http://hardware4linux.info/component/21359/

So it has nothing to do with the modules, at least we know that.

Time to go back to Google.
