Re: gnome-power-manager woes

I wasn't aware of these.  There are two patched g-p-m versions in aur:

gnome-power-manager-notify-osd 2.24.4-5

and

gnome-power-manager-ubuntu-patched 2.24.4-1

The notify-osd one looks interesting, but tbh I'm quite happy with the vanilla g-p-m 2.24.4.  I don't get all the notifications I used to but the screen doesn't blank out, and the notifications I do get make sense.

Re: gnome-power-manager woes

the ubuntu-patched was some kind of experiment as all 2.24 versions fail to hibernate on critical bat level on my system. The ubuntu patch applied promised to make hibernate on critical bat level work, when the lid is closed.  But it did not.
So i had to decide:
1) no sleep on idle (2.26)
2) no hibernate on critical bat level (2.24)
I went with option 1, and use "shutdown -h 60" when i listen to music in bed.

This whole g-p-m stuff did cost me some nerves! smile And yesterday all of sudden g-p-m does correctly detect the power status, which it failed to do for weeks. Maybe in a couple of days sleep on idle is working...
