Hi,
I recently installed arch with gnome and networkmanager. Everything is ok execpt that my wireless card seems to stop functioning at random times for 2 seconds and then work again, the module seems to "drop out of the kernel" and come back online again. I have intel pro wireless 3945ABG and insalled the iwl3945 module. Anybody know what's the problem.
Thanks

If you're using the 2.6.30-kernel, you should try and downgrade to .29.
I'm having the same issues using the ath9k-driver (weak signal strength, frequent disconnections, low speeds) and downgrading works for me. Your problem might be related.

The same problem by me with atheros chipset, and d-link usb wifi too.
Btw. Have you tried from console too and with wicd ?

The problem is the gnome networkmanager, when I use it, the wlan0 randomly drops and comes back. I removed networkmanger from the daemon lists and used the terminal to configure my card manual, everything worked perfectly this way. Did anybody have a problem with the networkmanager.

Have you tried disabling IPV6. It's enabled by default and not needed unless you have and use IPV6 networking. Networkmanager doesn't know this and so will poll both IPV4 and IPV6.
The network that you configured via the terminal is in IPV4, so no issues there.
Put this line in your /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf to disable IPV6
alias net-pf off
Re-enable networkmanager daemon in /etc/rc.conf and reboot.
I have a 5100abgn with the same problems you described and this solved it for me.

My problem is not linked to nm - I'm using netcfg2.
It might solve the problem for the OP.

I already tried disabling Ipv6 but it didn't work and editing the modprobe file, it didn't work.

How do you downgrade? I suspect this is my issue as well. Also once I do downgrade, how do I prevent pacman from auto-maticly upgrading it again?
