Hi!
I don't know if this is a listed bug, or this has to be so, but: When installing arch 2009.02, I checked mirrorlist file and all mirrors were uncommented, also I changed eth0 to DHCP. The first thing I did on my fresh install, was pacman -Syu update. Update was succesful, but after all mirrorlist lines were comented!
Of course, I found this when I got
error: failed to synchronize any databases. Is this normal, or some kind of bug?

Its not a bug. Its a feature. ![]()
You are supposed to choose the mirrors which are near/fast for you and not use the default.

As mentioned, it's to help avoid any one mirror (ie, the default, whoever ends up at the top of the list) becoming excessively loaded due to users not selecting the right mirror for them. Until recently, that was an Australian mirror I believe, which was great for Australian users, but not so good for people outside Australia, nor the mirror in question which copped all the extra traffic from users too lazy to change their config.
