Upgrade to NetworkManager 0.7.1 from 0.7.0 VPNC Issue

Hey all,

I have a Cisco IPSec VPN that I have been connecting to using the VPNC plugin for NetworkManager and everything has been working like it should until today. Today I did the weekly pacman -Syu and upgraded all networkmanager packages including networkmanager-vpnc-0.7.1 and noticed that my split tunnel VPN no longer works. I can successfully connect to the VPN but it seems like it never sets a gateway because I can no longer access the internet when I am connected. I have tried several things including going back to networkmanager-vpnc 0.7.0 and reinstalling everything from vpnc to networkmanager. The only solution I have found was to use NetworkManger 0.7.0. Could this issue be related to the change from libnetworkmanager to networkmanager?

Thanks!

Regards,

Dan

Re: Upgrade to NetworkManager 0.7.1 from 0.7.0 VPNC Issue

After further research vpnc works just fine from the command line it seems that just the networkmanager-vpnc 0.7.1 is broken.

Re: Upgrade to NetworkManager 0.7.1 from 0.7.0 VPNC Issue

I'm also current with networkmanager (0.7.1-1) & vpnc (0.5.3-1) -- I agree that networkmanager isn't handling vpnc properly, since I can only connect to my VPN via CLI as well.  Selecting a VPN connection from the GUI gets completely ignored.

From /var/log/everything.log:

May 13 06:02:34 jb-t43 NetworkManager: <WARN>  vpn_service_watch_cb(): VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.vpnc' exited with error: 127
May 13 06:02:40 jb-t43 NetworkManager: <info>  VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.vpnc' did not start in time, cancelling connections

Re: Upgrade to NetworkManager 0.7.1 from 0.7.0 VPNC Issue

Hi!

Networkmanager 0.7.1 is buggy, I've emailed with the developer at the nm mailing list, 3g support doesn't work, because nm uses the old hal rules, which are in the hal-compat package in fedora and redhat sad. So I've compiled myself nm 0.7.0.100, and it works perfect for me, pptp, wifi and 3g.

I need the VPNC support. Have you been able to solve your problems yet? I am hesitant to upgrade.

Re: Upgrade to NetworkManager 0.7.1 from 0.7.0 VPNC Issue

On the aur page for networkmanager-vpnc a user reports that functionality has not been broken yet even after a clean reinstall of networkmanager, vpnc & all of networkmanager's plug ins I am still without VPNC functionality. As a work around I have just been using vpnc from the command line which is almost easier in the mean time.

I installed Archlinux 2 days back. Now using networkmanager-vpnc, VPN is working fine (on XFCE; Gnome not necessary).

I also have no issues with vpnc at my university network.
