No networking without plugged cable at boot up

Hi community,
I'm new to Arch Linux, so I've a couple of questions, because my system isn't running flawless at the moment.

Problem 1: networking doesnt work automaticly if the cable isn't plugged in while booting, also it's plugged in after start up.
When I plug the cable while start up networking works fine. If i remove it afterwerds and replug it it still works.

Anybody knows what I've got to change, so it works automaticly even if i have no networkcable plugged while start up?

Problem 2: While booting, it's a pretty long time while loading the network. It says busy all the time.
It's a long time, no matter the networkcable is plugged or not.

Big THX for any help.

Re: No networking without plugged cable at boot up

Welcome to arch!

For future reference, the wiki has almost all the answers you'll need.

Problem 1: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Network#Ifplugd I don't have personal experience with it, but Ifplugd should do what you want

Problem 2: if you send the network daemon to the background by putting an "@" symbol in front of it in /etc/rc.conf it won't slow down your boot, again check the wiki if you have any questions
