hey,
today i tried out to connect to my university network over vpn. using the console-version of openvpn works, i got a configuration file from my network-department and they also provide a certificate. these work fine. using console, using windows and ubuntu doesn't have a problem either (using networkmanager).
but when i try to establish the connection via networkmanager under arch i always get a timeout (stating it couldn't connect because the connection timed out). that's the logfile:
/var/log/daemons.log

is there maybe a way to get NM's output more verbose to see why it times out?

Maybe if you run tthis from console/terminal

what? networkmanager? it's an X-only application (at least i think so).
like i said, if i start openvpn from console (openvpn -config /etc/RRZE-full-tunnel.conf) it works without problems.

any ideas? is it maybe possible to get networkmanager to produce a more verbose output?!

I tried to get openvpn running via the networkmanager plugin a few weeks ago without success - I think their plugin is just not working properly - I reverted to the console-version of openvpn - at least you get a real verbose output there.

strange thing is that it works without problems in ubuntu. they're using the same version (0.7.1). of course, i do not know if there have been any patches included in either arch or ubuntu which make it work/broke.
EDIT: with current version it works now as it should.
