I was using this mirror at the beginning of running Arch - my nearest one, but cvut.cz had always some issues, so I just moved on to another mirror. There are better out there than this one.

Re: [Announce] Mirror Status

Some/most mirrors will get slightly out-dated from the reason of the 2009.08 images syncing. it's known that this is a process which remain around 3-4 days (we up-sync since yesterday)..

@Xyne: I don't have forgot you, but you make me mortify ;-) Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!

Re: [Announce] Mirror Status

Ok, you may have noticed it already:
A accident brought nearly all mirrors to delete some/most packages from their mirrored repos.
Currently they all sync again. But rsync slots and bandwith is limited, so this will take some days/weeks to
get all mirrors to a actual state.

mirror.lividpenguin.com
Yeah, saw this also. But these network problems or maintainace work we have often. I only react if these still  occurs longer than a few working days...
Switch to an other mirror meanwhile.

Short overview of mirror status after the resync-all:
Most mirrors are now in synced state, for those which are currently out-of-sync i have wrote mails to the admins.

Can anyone tell what happened to ftp.estpak.ee? I had to switch to Finnish mirrors, because estpak wasn't synced anymore.

Re: [Announce] Mirror Status

Is there any reason that the mirrorcheck page now requires https?

Also, GerBra, can you please reply to my email sometime soon? I said I was in no hurry but it's been several months now and you've still not replied.

Re: [Announce] Mirror Status

@Pierre
Thanks for the reply.

I generally think that most sites should provide the option of using an encrypted connection so I'm happy to see that you're considering it. I just wanted to make sure that the protocol had not been changed to block reflector without contacting me first.

Maybe you can help with the issue that I wanted to discuss with GerBra. I was hoping to convince GerBra to create an addition non-html page for the mirrorcheck information. This would reduce the overhead of downloading and parsing the html output and would make it independent of changes to the html layout.

Send me an email if you think this might be possible.

Thanks

Please be more verbose. Don't you trust cacert or are you using some app that does not have the root cert installed by default?

Re: [Announce] Mirror Status

What is the (official) procedure taken when a mirror gets out of sync, or, in general, is misbehaving? Who will send an e-mail and to what address?
The nluug/surfnet mirror is getting behind again.

Re: [Announce] Mirror Status

I'd guess some dev / someone with an @archlinux.org address writes a mail to ftpmaster@mirror asking what's up.

Are those conversations trackable? Ie: can I see whether such an e-mail has already been sent and the problem is being dealt with?

Re: [Announce] Mirror Status

unixheads.org seems to be really out of date.  Here's what's currently in http://archlinux.unixheads.org/extra/os/x86_64/

mysql-5.1.39-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz                                     10-Oct-2009 11:42   26M

mysql has had a whole bunch of releases after 5.1.39-1 and they don't show up.

AFAIK they will stop mirroring Arch because kernel.org is mirroring us now and they are on the same network (but kernel.org is faster)
I guess it will be removed from pacman-mirrorlist soon.

Same here, and I'm using default Firefox settings.

Trying to access https://archlinux.de ...

[German]
Firefox-Fehlermeldung, dass dieser Verbindung nicht getraut wird. Technische Details:

[/German]

However, there's another thing that I'd like to ask: It seems for me that I cannot establish a connection to dozen of mirrors (those mirrors from Germany and USA in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist). If I want to download something, the connection cuts off, I have to try again, try another mirror, the same and so on ... Is it just me or is it down for everyone?

Qo quote their news:

NEWS:
18 November 09: Things are starting to settle down, I have limited the heavy abuser mirror to 100Mbit/s so that the other mirrors will not be impacted. In addition, this situation forced us to audit what we are mirroring. Things like Archlinux are going to get moved off as the Kernel.org mirror has started mirroring them. We are both on ISC's network, and they are better equipped to handle the larger bursts of traffic.

Re: [Announce] Mirror Status

I'm not sure how this works, but new Belgian mirrors got introduced with with the latest pacman mirrorlist update, and they don't seem to be checked by the mirrorlist script:

http://archlinux.mirror.kangaroot.net/
ftp://archlinux.mirror.kangaroot.net/pub/archlinux/

Both Kangaroot mirrors, and they're damn fast <3
