rtorrent: search and add .torrents to "./watch" [SOLVED]

i use rtorrent with screen as a bt client daemon. usually i use putty to play on my computer from work, and ftp to transfer files to/from my computer at work. sometimes i want to add torrents to rtorrent watch folders but many trackers have annoying web based search which doesnt go well with remote surfing (like links/lynx from within a putty terminal). i know that i could just surf the trackers and upload to the ./watch/ using some windows web browser and ftp file transfer but thats a bit of a pain since it has to be proxied or take place over vnc (the IT environment at work is hostile toward anything except ms exchange, for instance archlinux.org is blocked by the web proxy as a hacking site). any ideas on robust display of tracker searches using a text-based web browser or other non-browser means of searching trackers are appreciated.

things ive tried:
1. proxied tracker surfing with home comp as host (socks based dns proxy with html tunneled over ssh)
2. virtual desktop

i have decided to use either sshfs or samba. sshfs should work fine since there should be no need to lock ./watch for remote use (all i will be doing is adding things). in case there are issues with this ill just have to use samba although i would rather avoid it.
