Hi, I've moved into a new house and I am having trouble connecting my laptop to the AP here. It works fine if I do things manually with a bash script but all the connection managers give me errors about authentication failing or not being able to obtain an IP address. I've tried wicd, wifi-radar, wlassistant, netcfg and I think more that I'm not remembering.
The bash script that works is this:
ifconfig ra0 up
iwconfig ra0 essid superstar
wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -i ra0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
dhcpcd ra0
As far as I know I configured the connection managers to do exactly this but it never works. Any ideas?

Hello heresyte!
Do the gui appliactions use dhcpcd/dhclient ? What's the problem if you start it from console.
Did you try with networkmanager/nm-applet too? If they can't work you can automatize this to put it in the xinitrc, or rc.local, or using autowifi.

In wicd, make sure your wireless interface in the preferences is indeed ra0. For me the default was wlan0 (maybe due to autodetection, but it's worth a shot.)
