[Solved]Can't login after updating initscipts

Hi,

For the past weeks I've been lurking around the forums and the wiki trying to get Arch to run in Virtual Box.
After several different configures I came to this one that almost works.

I've installed from a 2009.02-core-i686 disk on VirtualBox 3.0.4 and updated only what i needed.
(from what I've read the VB 3.x.x crashes were related to the kernel 2.6.30 update. Using VB 2.2.4 didn't help either)

Now to the problem. After updating initscripts to the latest version, i cant login.
I've tried to login in an install that i did not initially set a root password, it tells me invalid login after reboot.
In an install that the password was set for root, i get invalid login after reboot.
In an install that the password was set for root, and after the initscripts was updated, i've updated the password with passwd. Still invalid login after reboot.

I want to update initscripts because i want to install xorg-server.

Can you please help me clear the login problems?

Thank you. The post in the second topic about ignoring the kernel packages and upgrading the full system helped me.

But in the end I've moved to vmware and that works without problems. Even with the latest kernel.
