I see that a new version came out yesterday.

...since this is a rolling release distro. and I ran # pacman -Syu yesterday, I should have the same version as the new release?

the new release is pretty much just the latest installer version with newer packages on the cd, if your system is fully updated it should be the same as re-installing the same packages from the new installer.

You should have even newer than the release since there will have been packages updated since the 'release' was made. A release is essentially just a snapshot of the repos at a point in time, with an installer to accompany it.

How does -Syyu differ from -Syu ?

It forces the redownload of the database files for each repo regardless of whether you need them updated. In general, this is a waste of bandwidth/time.

@Allan - re syyu and being waste of time/ bandwidth. Somewhere I read it, but take your point. Am I safe to use syu and be assured I won't get conflicts?
thanks.
