Every time I try to stop, start or restart a daemon it always fails as show below:
[morgan@Server-Arch ~]$ /etc/rc.d/samba restart
:: Stopping Samba Server [FAIL]
:: Starting Samba Server [FAIL]
[morgan@Server-Arch ~]$ /etc/rc.d/cups restart
:: Stopping CUPS Daemon [FAIL]
:: Starting CUPS Daemon [FAIL]
[morgan@Server-Arch ~]$ /etc/rc.d/fam restart
:: Stopping File Alteration Monitor [FAIL]
:: Starting File Alteration Monitor [FAIL]
The daemons do not appeared to be working as I can't access samba shares and the CUPS web page. I am not having any luck resolving this on my own and would appreciate any help.
Thank you

Although I can't help you, I sense that this thread is headed for an epic fail.

Have to ask: are you trying those as root?

It seems you're trying those commands as a regular user, that's your problem.
You need to start/stop daemons as root

Yes. If you install and configure sudo, then you can prepend the commands with 'sudo' to temporarily gain root privs.

I have checked by bash history and you are right I have been trying to restart daemons without root privileges. I can't believe that was my problem and that I could be that stupid. Thank you for your help.
