how often should i update ? daily ...weekly...monthly ?

when you feel like it... daily/weekly is good. If you update monthly, there will be more for you to deal with.
and please use a more descriptive title for your posts.

It's not a matter of how often you "should" but how often you "could" update, that's what matters.

I used to update all the time. It was like an addiction. The novelty wears off though and sometimes I even forget to do it for a few days.

I go by "whenever i remember to"
unless you have limited bandwidth/month or something... in which case you have the wrong distro. or more likely, the wrong ISP =]

I think by now you've got the hint that it's "whenever you like" on the understanding that the longer you leave it, potentially the longer it will take when you do (unless someone deletes the repo's again! )
I tend to do it 2 - 3 times a week for my desktops and servers, unless I'm having a particularly boring week, then I'll do it daily or more. My laptops tend to go several weeks up to a couple of months before I get around to updating them.

just learning the forum...and Arch...still very new to arch...up to this point i have only used distros like Ubuntu that do it all for you....
