[SOLVED sorta] AUR server is currently down?

Hopefully not for too long.

There is no message on the Arch news page regarding this one.

I used to be surprised that I was still surprised by my own stupidity, finding it strangely refreshing.
Well, now I don't find it refreshing.

Thanks for that, it was intelligent. smile

It is only down for me?

I turned off HAVP & Privoxy in IPCop & now I get a more detailed error message as follows:

ERROR

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://aur.archlinux.org/

The following error was encountered:

    * Connection to 208.92.232.29 Failed

The system returned:

Looks like you've still got something caching the page, or at least between you and the internet at large.

My IPCop (firewall/router headless) box is called "blackbox" & the internal domain it is using is called "invalid".  Just for my personal amusement. smile

Yeah I checked that when I found I couldn't get to it this morning. It says it's up, but I can't access it from my home connection, but if I use the proxy on my VPS in the US then I can get to it hmm

Re: [SOLVED sorta] AUR server is currently down?

traceroute & accessing aur.archlinux.org via firefox just worked at last, from OS X.

I haven't tried in Arch for 2 or 3 hours, I'll just go & have a look.

Re: [SOLVED sorta] AUR server is currently down?

I just checked from Arch, & I can now access the AUR web site, & yaourt does the right thing. smile

I knew nothing changed in my machine since last night when I -Syu --aur, & it had not been restarted before I became aware of this problem.

So this problem is due to an important link between Oz & possibly China & the AUR site being broken for a while?

Not sure if it's related, but there was a link to the bbs on a slashdot newspost last night.

Working again here too smile

Possibly a routing issue after the major interweb fail last Thursday morning in Australia...?

Re: [SOLVED sorta] AUR server is currently down?

I was unaware of the failure here in Oz on Thursday, I just did a bit of a search & couldn't find out anything about it?

I don't have radio, TV or newspapers, so some may think I'm a bit out of touch with reality... smile

Re: [SOLVED sorta] AUR server is currently down?

lol, I use the godly Internode!

Well done Dodo.

[Edit:]
I just read the article, I don't think that was responsible for today's fun & games.

I wasn't interupted by it on Thursday either thankfully. smile

[Edit2:]  I read comments down the page, & Telstra looks like they are most likely the culprit. <I'll keep reading> lol

Internode ftw thank-you tongue

It was more than a DNS failure, there was problems with international links at least for part of the duration because I couldn't ping international servers by IP address (ie, without the need for DNS) but I could ping inside Australia fine.
