You read correctly! ATI has released a new driver today supporting Xorg 6.8. I'll be installing it later today and will post again if I run into any problems. I may also post PKGBUILDs if I get some decent ones made.

Is there a problem to have a pacman package for an ATI module.
Offline
No, just add the following lines at the end of your /etc/pacman.conf :
[link]
Server = ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/tur/link
Anyway you have to wait a few time because actually there are only the old ones...

I do not know why but I was under the impression that ATI had some copyright issue and prevented to publish a package for their drivers.
It is a great thing that they support Xorg now.
My machine runs great, I have all the most recent updates, could upgrade the Xorg package and the ATI driver, the apps run great (even Xine which I had lost for a while),
I am very happy.
So I use this time to say: THANKS TO ALL, this Arch distro is great and great people are on it (I really do not consider my self in this)
