You read correctly! ATI has released a new driver today supporting Xorg 6.8. I'll be installing it later today and will post again if I run into any problems. I may also post PKGBUILDs if I get some decent ones made.
Keep looking here as well: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=61559
OOPs... shit happened... I'm sorry :oops: :oops: :oops:
Is there a problem to have a pacman package for an ATI module.
No, just add the following lines at the end of your /etc/pacman.conf :
Server = ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/tur/link
Anyway you have to wait a few time because actually there are only the old ones...
I do not know why but I was under the impression that ATI had some copyright issue and prevented to publish a package for their drivers.
It is a great thing that they support Xorg now.
My machine runs great, I have all the most recent updates, could upgrade the Xorg package and the ATI driver, the apps run great (even Xine which I had lost for a while),
I am very happy.
So I use this time to say: THANKS TO ALL, this Arch distro is great and great people are on it (I really do not consider my self in this)
OK, Link has just uploaded new ati drivers on his repository, now there are new drivers avaliable to download/install directly with pacman
