I still seem to have trouble receiving mail from the forum. I sent you a message, but in case you have trouble, too, I allowed public display in my profile. (The email is in clear text in enough header files, but surprisingly little spammed.)

if they really needed a remote access to a arch box (but the latter would be surprising, as it's dead easy to set up ssh server on your own box)
The keyword is probably "remote". Always useful to have a remote shell for testing. I keep a few spread around the globe from Australia to Atlanta to Belgium

Attention users: I've installed apache and activated ~/public_html, just be sure to set proper permissions for your folder (o+x) if you want apache to be able to serve your stuff.
EDIT: never mind, it was a port forwarding issue. Apache now works.
Note: Don't even try to host anything serious here, this server is running on a 4096/512Kbit connection.

Wow apache server! Thanks ZankerH!
But have you considered getting a DNS for your server? You can get a free one from dyndns.org. This way we won't have to remember your ip address.

For the record, I've taken the advice some of you have suggested and gotten a dyndns address, you may now login via yourusername@sshbox.ath.cx

Interested, assuming the 160 GB hasn't been eaten up.

If there is space left I would like a slot. Thanks!

I'm also interested in an account. I'm looking forward to do all my on-line banking from a remote machine which I saw in a forum post!
Not really. I'm lately interested in a stupid yet addictive game and I'd like to have an IRC bot in your host. It establishes a permanent connection but traffic is just a couple of Kb per hour. It also rotates its owns logs which should be no more than 1Mb in size.
If this is tolerable to you, count me in.

Mh...when I try to access my web space, I get a directory listing instead of the expected index.htm file. Could you please have a look at the relevant settings?
Another thing: Would it be possible to get gnupg and python?

Works for me. For some reason, index.htm isn't picked up, you have to rename it to index.html .
Also, installed python and gnupg.
EDIT: for proxy setup see http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SSH … the_server .

Ah, ok. It works now. :-)
Should you want to change this, have a look at DirectoryIndex.

Could you perhaps install gcc and gnu screen? Can't live without those.
Edit: I seem to have a problem with my webpage. I set the public_html directory to permissions 777 but it still says access forbidden when I try to access http://sshbox.ath.cx/~zowki

Note to the OP: if you don't want anymore people asking for accounts, you may want to consider changing your thread title to [solved] or similar.
