Wireless disconnects when laptop is closed

I've got a Thinkpad T400 and for the most part I've got Arch running really smoothly on it. But I have one issue that really bugs me.

Whenever I close the laptop, and open it back up, I find I've been disconnected from the wireless network and I have to reset it (by reset I mean usually bringing down wlan0 and bringing it back up or redoing dhcpcd.

Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? It's really annoying especially when I'm at school where for some reason net-auto doesn't work the first time and I always have to do it manually.

Re: Wireless disconnects when laptop is closed

Short answer: don't close the laptop.

Long answer: what does the laptop do when you close the lid? Go into stand-by or hibernation? Because that would be pretty hard to overcome.
