Um: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fluxbox

Or do you have questions that aren't covered in the wiki?

Have you got to the bit in the Beginners' Guide about installing X?

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide

If you work through the guide step-by-step, you should be OK.

First X, then your DE or WM.

Good luck. And if it goes pear shaped, post the problems here...

Re: Any references on installing fluxbox completely and running it? Thanks

I have seen a couple of threads recently where new users have installed Arch, without consulting the Beginners Guide. I know this has been mentioned already. But this is for every new user out there who ever wants to try out/use Arch. Read the Beginners Guide.

Then once you are done, Read it again !!

Re: Any references on installing fluxbox completely and running it? Thanks

hey if you don't really need of GNOME you don't need GDM and if u won't use KDE you don't need KDM..

just look for "xdm" or another login screen manager

btw: you should check for the X-server (in ARCH) because in ubuntu you already have it installed and configured

edit: look the wiki entry here

The CD doesn't have xorg on it.  You need to get it via pacman as the wiki page teaches.  Once you've downloaded packages once, they go to /var/cache/pacman/pkg and will stay there unless you remove them.  If you wanna install Arch on a new PC, simply copy over the contents of that dir to the new machine to avoid having to re-download the content.

You might wanna read the pacman page on the wiki too.
