Hello!
I recently changed my soundcard to an usb one and everything works fine except the sound of flash videos, in firefox.
Is there any way i can "tell" it to use the new one ?

are you using alsa or oss for sound? i believe oss doesnt have usb audio support
"I know what you're thinking, 'cause right now I'm thinking the same thing. Actually, I've been thinking it ever since I got here:
Why oh why didn't I take the BLUE pill?"

hello, I have the same problem (except I have usb headset), here my topic - http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=81994 .I've got there that solution:
add to MODULES in rc.comf !snd-pcm-oss
this helped me for a while, but when I've done full system upgrade (new release kde4, kernel) - sound again goes away in firefox.

Well I had similar problems. Sometimes it helps to configure alsa with alsaconf, which seems to work better than the autoconfiguration of other tools. And maybe the problem is not the missing sound, it also could be a mixing problem. Try some youtube-videos when all other apps which could use sound are closed (except of firefox). If you get sound it is a mixing problem which could be solved with enabling dmix explicitly in /etc/asoundrc.

I solved part of the problem by simply removing the old soundcard from its slot. from the warning messages i got, i thought it wasn't working anyway but once physically removed it, my sound is back.
The problem now is, the sound falls behind the video which is very annoying. Also, only the sound in flash works, amarok or the dragon player don't, and i get the same error message i got with the old soundcard: Notification from Phonon: The audio playback device does not work.
