I have an issue where conky-1.7.2-3 wont start anymore, complaining of errors with my hwmon sensors
Conky: can't open '/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/temp3_input': No such file or directory
please check your device or remove this var from Conky...
My hwmon devices are listed in the following directory "/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/device" so of course conky cant find them! The above error is missing the /device/ portion of the path.
Downgrading back to conky-1.7.2-2 same problem.
Downgrading back to conky-1.7.2-1 and everything works as expected...
anyone else having this issue? Should I file a bug report?
Thanks

I Filed a bug report

Well bye bye bug report.. it was closed with reason "works for me".
I wonder what the problem could be then.

Get conky from abs, comment the patch line in the PKGBUILD and makepkg.
Clearly the patch now it's wrong since the sensors are in /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon1/device which it's ok at least with kernel 2.6.31-4 here. I've checked the patch and it just strips the /device part of the path so that's why conky doesn't work.
Zer0, you should re-open the bug report and point giovanni to here.

thanks for the heads up reztho.. I'll take a look at the patch and PKGBUILD later, and then re-open the bug report if needed.

That fixed it for me. Thanks reztho.

sorry guys but this bug is not solved, at least not for all configurations.
All with 2.6.31 kernel:
I've a MB Asus P5Q-E with same sensors chip of Zer0. It's w83627ehf. After last activated restriction on acpi i've decided to switch to asus-atk0110 module, and in the end, i agree.
for me, patched conky 1.7.2-2 and 1.7.2-3 were ok.
latest not patched -4 build is broken like -1 was.
The classic conky error obtained:
Conky: can't open '/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/device/fan1_input': No such file or directory
The asus-atk0110 module behavior in my /sys tree:
ls /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/
device fan1_min fan2_min fan3_min fan4_min fan5_min in0_min in1_min in2_min in3_min temp1_crit temp2_crit uevent
fan1_input fan2_input fan3_input fan4_input fan5_input in0_input in1_input in2_input in3_input name temp1_input temp2_input
fan1_label fan2_label fan3_label fan4_label fan5_label in0_label in1_label in2_label in3_label power temp1_label temp2_label
fan1_max fan2_max fan3_max fan4_max fan5_max in0_max in1_max in2_max in3_max subsystem temp1_max temp2_max
ls /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/device
driver hid hwmon modalias path power subsystem uevent

i confirm the same as max.bra. Kernel 2.6.31 and conky 1.7.2-1 did't work on my asus m2n-vm dvi. which i reported in the http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16584 , but that resulted in conky 1.7.2.2 and 1.7.2.-3 not working on Zer0's machine. Now conky 1.7.2-4 does not work on mine again.
But as Jussi Timperi points out in http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16650 , the updated patch at launchpad.net should work for both cases. Atleast it worked for me.Now i am happily running conky again.
