i finally have a terminal window open in the fallback img. what can i do now to fix arch linux...

also the efsck command you gave me doesnt work

The partitons you check SHOULD NOT be mounted. The safest way to do it is to start your computer from a livecd or the arch install cd.  The e2fsck is part of the e2fsprogs-pkg, you can also use fsck.ext3 (for ext3 partitions), see man fsck.

Re: Update broke arch???

ok thanks chilebiker.
fsckd: i can only open a terminal with the fall back image.
in the fall back image running startx just shows a black screen. i got everything copied now so if i need to format i can just put the stuff i want back on

Ok after running the e___ command i have been able to open a normal terminal.
I keep getting messages such as "CE: hpet increasing min_delta_ns to 22500 nsec"
I am unsure if this is bad or good neutral
