ssh login as user

Hello. I have SSH running and I have to login as root when trying to get access from a Acer One running Mandriva. I have the ip-adress to the Acer in hosts.allow and hosts.deny untouched. Isn't it possible to log in with an ordinary user?

Re: ssh login as user

It should be, but first thing you should check is your /etc/ssh/sshd_config, sounds like something is wrong with your configuration. You should also run a verbose ssh connection attempt (ssh -v user@host) and post that, so we can have a look at it.

Re: ssh login as user

It is possible. However, your user might have to be a member of the correct groups, at least that would be my guess, or the user is not set up correctly. You should provide more information.

Re: ssh login as user

It seems like an Mandriva issue. I did an install of Arch on my eee and from that it's ok. Will check M forum för that. Thanks for your replies.

You don't need to be a member of some group to SSH.
