Take a screenshot without X

How do you capture screen like this one:

install4.JPG

Obviously, you can't use import, because it needs X.

Re: Take a screenshot without X

Why not use xterm+gimp? If you can't run the program under xterm, you could use some PC emulator like vmware or qemu (under X).

Re: Take a screenshot without X

Yes, AFAIK this is the only way to take screenshots of operating system (for example Windows) installation. Run it in a window and use the host os to take screenshots.

Re: Take a screenshot without X

why don't you just start /arch/setup off the cd when you have X up and running? ;p
anyway, using a serial or SSH connection on a seperate box that runs X is the easiest way i guess.

Re: Take a screenshot without X

if its an installer, you can always chroot and actually install on, say, a /home partition or something

Re: Take a screenshot without X

Thanks for all the suggestions. Although I thought there might be some easy way like the "import" of imagemagick or PrtSc key lol
