It's normal. Back when Arch had releases, there was content inside it. Now, it's just an empty file, and anything that cares can check that it exists to know that the system is Arch.

I kept the files on my installations... I liked the ring of 'Overlorld' and 'Don't Panic'.

Yes, we gathered that from your first post . It's there for historical reasons I suppose.

How about linking it to /proc/version or something ?

maybe a little OT but i didn't want to open a new thread.
my install stillt shows the last release ("Dont' Panic") before login on ttys.
where does that info come from and how could i change it?

In /etc/issue.

thanks. can someone post /etc/issue from an install after "Don"t Panic"? I want to restore the vanilla state

It has control characters in it IIRC, so hard to post. Get it out of the "filesystem" package.
Offline
sudo rm /etc/issue ; sudo pacman -S filesystem

worked like a charm, thanks guys.

Release names are something to be missed ... Maybe they can try giving 'unofficial' names to install ISOs, just from sentiment
If everything else fails, read the manual.
