Hi to all.
I don't know if this is the right place to post this or if it is best in the Multimedia and games forum
This happens on my x86_64 laptop
I have upgraded wesnoth from 1.6.5-1 to 1.6.5-2 and now the multiplayer game wont connect to the official server, as a curiosity if I select the second or third server it connects right, but with the main server it keeps on the connecting dialog
I have tested also the same version in a i686 netbook and it connects to the server, so I verified that the server is not down
If I downgrade to the previous version (also need to downgrade boost to 1.39.0-2 ) then it works
the problem is that boost 1.41.0-1 is needed by akonadi and other software, I have downgraded with the -d flag to be able to remove boost and install the 1.39 version
Can someone confirm this bug with the wesnoth 1.6.5-2 version on x86_64?
thanks

Same behaviour here with 1.6.5-2 and wesnoth-devel from AUR.
Judging from http://wesnoth.yi.org/mrtg/wesnoth_1_6_offi.html, I think the problem lies with the server. I expect it will come back with time.

looking this link but don't understand your answer :-(
I only can see the load graphs, and as I stated, the same version but for x86 (32 bits) connects right
also connects right the previous version in x86_64, so it must be a bug in the x86_64 version

I can't connect to the third server, and the second one doesn't let me join slopts in the game, and if I create the game others can't join.

Sorry, to be more clear, I was refering to the area of the graph around yesterday at 0:00 GMT, shortly after what seems to be a server restart. It would seem at this time the logging bot also had some trouble connecting. Though it turns out this is nothing more than coincidence.
I've investigated this further and 1.7.9 is also affected. I've discussed this with the developers, who are also able to reproduce the issue. Again, only with x86_64 and boost-1.41. A bug has been filed for this: https://gna.org/bugs/index.php?14929.
I'm hoping this will be fixed for 1.7.10. Unfortunately, I doubt the package for 1.6.x will ever work correctly under x86_64.
Good thing 1.8 should not be too far away. ![]()

Just give an update on this, mordante on #wesnoth-dev believes the source of the breakage is in boost-1.41 itself. To be more specific, it's a regression inthe gzip decompression. Source: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib … match=gzip.
So, unfortunately, the only solution at the moment is to rebuild against a different version of boost. ![]()

Hi
Thanks for your time.
I will keep in 1.6.5-1 and boost 1.39 until the new 1.8 is ready
as this is working fine for me.
Greetings

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
