It seems to me that resolution of hostnames is very slow on my newly installed system. I don't think I notice this when I boot into OpenSUSE or Windows, but whenever I use the browser to go to a host, there is a very noticeable lag (say, several seconds) where it (Chromium) displays "Resolving host..." before it starts to display the web page. I also see this in Thunderbird, trying to get email.
/etc/resolv.conf looks fine, like it is set up correctly via the DHCP:
Generated by dhcpcd from eth0
# /etc/resolv.conf.head can replace this line
domain hsd1.ma.comcast.net.
nameserver 68.87.71.226
nameserver 68.87.73.242
# /etc/resolv.conf.tail can replace this line
but still pretty slow and noticeable. Any ideas on what I should look at next?

Try to disable ipv6. You can do this by adding
alias net_pf_10 off
somewhere in /etc/modprobe.d/.

Thanks, that was it! Just added that line to my modprobe.conf file and now it resolves lickety-split!

Sorry for the necromancy..
Is the following still a valid solution for disabling ipv6?

orbifx, please read the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … acklisting or start a new thread instead of digging up this corpse.

orbifx,
First, welcome to Arch Linux. Karol is right, this is a case where you should start a new thread and link back to this one. A lot has changed in four years -- I think this thread is no longer relevant, but I am not sure.
I am going to close this; feel free to start a new thread and link back to this one.
Thanks.
