I recently saw a new piece of software (mdnsresponder) on the updated package list that I was curious about and checked into a bit. After doing some research and figuring out that this appeared to be the linux rendezous implementation (is that right?), I thought wow, cool. I remember seeing something about this a while back.
So anyway, for anyone using it, what does it imply to an arch system to use it? Do I no longer need dhcp for my network device? If so, what do I modify rc.conf to? Do I just run the mdns daemon and all works?
I did a man on mdns and read the docs, searched the forums, wiki, and google. But I still don't have a good idea of what mdns does for me when setting up my networking. If anyone has a link besides to apples dev section (which I've read) or some experience using it, I would appriciate it.
