Ipod Touch on Linux?

I hope this post here will go over well, since i am still new at Linux. i just got an ipod and am going through various wiki pages and forums to get this right i cant find anyone to give me a straight talk answer or a good lead as to where to look. has anyone else hooked up a touch with KDE? do i need the use of a itunes similar program?
from what i am reading it is possible to make this happen but noone speaks of it in a step by step or easy manner. Anyways if you can please help or point me in the right direction it would be very appreciated. Thanks a million!

p.s. if you let me know this is a wrong place to post i'll try and delete this and post accordingly:D.

Re: Ipod Touch on Linux?

It looks like the Touch is a bit tricky. There's a package in the AUR called ipod-convenience. Check out the web page for more information on what needs to be done.

You could run iTunes in a windows Virtualbox. In the future you should look at Linux compatibility before investing in a device.

I too have a Touch and an iPhone, but have not been successful in getting it to work any other way other than in a virtual machine with USB pass-through.

Re: Ipod Touch on Linux?

If you decide to run iTunes in a VM, pay special attention to firmware upgrades.
During the upgrade process the iPod will reboot, and the update will most likely fail if it doesn't get auto-mounted into the VM.
There are several tutos out there, just search Google.
