Access internet via a ZTE A580 USB Modem for CDMA/3G EVDO ...

The ZTE A580 USB Modem is shipped with only a Windoze XP driver on its own CD media, aka ZeroCD, a common feature from Qualcomm, when the first-time plug-in. After installation, the driver identifies the modem as CT_ZTE_EV-DO with four ports, e.g., COM#1 as Modem, COM#2 as AT Interface, COM#3 as Diag Interface, and COM#4 as Sound Interface. Although all of them share the 19d2:0073 device id, as if the dial-up uses only COM#1.
Arch Linux with recent kernel (e.g., 2.6.31 etc) may identify the modem as but a ZTE USB CD, where lsusb shows 19d2:0026 and dmesg shows no usbserial thing. It is time to try usb_modeswitch (on AUR, along with ozerocdoff) after a simple eject does not help. By inspecting those 19d2: related samples in the usb_modeswitch package, one may find various message blocks in 31-byte to send for switching the modem. For a lazy mind like me, it might be easier to try them one by one than a sniff hack, given at least one of them works. Yeah, once lsusb shows 19d2:0073 after usb_modeswitch, dmesg also shows option/usbserial registering four ports as ttyUSB0 etc, so it is time to try wvdial or something.
